Real Name: Stu Bennett
He began on Season 1 of WWE NXT, billed as a former bare knuckle fighter, paired with then WWE pro Chris Jericho.
Barrett was considered by many to be the stand out, and won NXT in easy fashion. Weeks later on WWE Raw, him and the other 7 rookies he competed against made history .... attacking John Cena and the Straight-Edge Society, and destroying the Raw set .... The Nexus had arrived.
After dominating the WWE for months, The Nexus began to fade, members were removed, new ones were brought in, but it wasn't the same ...soon Barretts role as leader ended , he was kicked out and went to Smackdown, CM Punk took over The Nexus and brought in Mason Ryan.
Barrett didnt wait to make a impact, bringing his old friends Slater and Gabriel to Smackdown, these 3 along with Ezekial Jackson, formed The Corre.
In an attempt to recreate the magic made with Nexus, this group attacked stars in similar fashion, surrounding the ring, but it didn't last, and within weeks, they separated.
Since then, Barretts career has gone for a huge landslide, perhaps he was put in the spotlight too soon ..... him and his former Nexus partners have all fizzled out of the main event ..... and NXT is now an absolute joke.
Smackdown star Sheamus was in a similar spot earlier this year, and has rebounded, there is hope for Wade Barrett ... it wasnt too long ago that people said he would be WWE Champion .... well it never happened .... and may never ever happen .....
