Rise of the Planet of the Apes (previously titled Rise of the Apes) is a 2011 American science fiction drama film directed by Rupert Wyatt, starring James Franco and Andy Serkis. It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes series. It is intended to act as a foundation with its own origin story for a new film series.Its premise is similar to the fourth film in the original series, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), but it is not a direct remake in that it does not fit into that series' continuity. It was released in the United States, Canada, and India on August 5, 2011.The film received positive reviews and became a box office success.

TV/Movie Character Profile: G.I Joe

The premise of the cartoon 1985 series was "good vs. evil". The show's opening theme song included the narration: "G.I. Joe is the code name for America's daring, highly trained special mission force. Its purpose: to defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world".

The show featured physical fighting and high-tech weapons as a way to compensate for toned-down violence and lack of bullets in what was intended to be children's program. The show also featured public service announcements placed at the end of each show. These PSAs ended with the phrase: "Now you know, and knowing is half the battle."The series ran for a total of 95 episodes, from 1985 to 1986.

The animated series was canceled after the release of G.I. Joe: The Movie, but made a significant return in 1989, with the animation company DiC taking over where Claster/Marvel left off. That year, DiC released a 5 part mini-series entitled "Operation: Dragonfire", in which the Joes faced off once again against Cobra as they tried to take control of an energy source known only as 'dragonfire.' In this mini-series, Cobra Commander was also returned to a semi-human state by the energy itself while Serpentor, the Cobra emperor, was turned into an iguana by the dragonfire. The animated series proved to be a bit of a success as DIC made 2 more seasons (1990–91); however, the series ended after 1991.

Following the "Operation:Dragonfire" series was the "The Real American Hero" series in 1995 created by Claster Productions. This new animated series was based upon the G.I. Joe Extreme toy line. This series was canceled after 2 seasons (1995–96), along with the toy line.

G.I. Joe had no series on the air until its resurgence in 2002 which accompanied a new interest in the Real American Hero toy line, and new lines including Spy Troops (2003), Valor vs. Venom (2004), and Sigma 6 (2006). These short-lived series were followed by the G.I. Joe: Resolute (2008), which was originally released as mini webisodes, with the full series later broadcast on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. This new series was more realistic and contained graphic violence and dark themes, with Cobra portrayed as a serious threat, which was different from the original and preceding series. In 2010, The Hub launched G.I. Joe: Renegades, in which the Joes became fugitives seeking to clear their names and Cobra worked towards world domination under the guise of a pharmaceutical company.

The Green Lantern is the shared primary alias of several fictional characters, superheroes appearing in comic books published by DC Comics.

Each Green Lantern possesses a power ring and power lantern that gives the user great control over the physical world as long as the wielder has sufficient willpower and strength to wield it. The ring is one of the most powerful weapons in the universe and can be very dangerous. While the ring of the Golden Age Green Lantern (Alan Scott) is magically powered, the rings worn by all subsequent Lanterns are technological creations of the Guardians of the Universe, who granted such rings to worthy candidates. This shift to a technological explanation reflects the comic book industry's tendency to explain extraordinary powers through science and reasoning rather than magic.[citation needed] These individuals made up the intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps.

Hellraiser (also known as Clive Barker's Hellraiser) is a 1987 British and American horror film. Hellraiser explores themes of sadomasochism and morality under duress and fear. The film spawned a series of sequels. A remake was announced and will be presented in 3D. Hellraiser was number 19 on the cable channel Bravo's list of the 100 Scariest Movie Moments.

Bane is a fictional character who appears in comic books published by DC Comics. The character first appeared in Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 (January 1993), and was created by Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench, and Graham Nolan. Bane has been one of Batman's more physically and intellectually powerful foes. A virtually unstoppable juggernaut, he is best known for breaking Batman's back in the "Knightfall" story arc.

IGN's list of the Top 100 Comic Book Villains of All Time ranked Bane as #34. Tom Hardy is set to play Bane in the finale of the Christopher Nolan Batman film trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises.

Leatherface is the main antagonist in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror-film series and its spin-offs. He wears masks made of human skin (hence his name) and engages in murder and cannibalism alongside his inbred family. He is considered by many to be one of the first major slasher film villains alongside Michael Myers and Norman Bates. Leatherface first appeared in the first film in the series (1974) and in its four subsequent continuations and remakes. Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein, who wore a mask made of human skin, was purportedly the inspiration for the character.

Name: Thor, The God of Thunder


The god of thunder based on the Norse mythological deity of the same name. Director Kenneth Branagh and Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige chose Hemsworth after a back-and-forth process in which the 27-year-old actor was initially dropped from consideration and then given a second chance to read for the part. Hemsworth stated that he gained 20 pounds for the role by eating non-stop and revealed that "It wasn't until Thor that I started lifting weights, it was all pretty new to me".Regarding his take of the character, Hemsworth said, "We just kept trying to humanize it all, and keep it very real. Look into all the research about the comic books that we could, but also bring it back to 'Who is this guy as a person, and what's his relationship with people in the individual scenes?'"About approaching Thor's fighting style, he remarked, "First, we looked at the comic books and the posturing, the way [Thor] moves and fights, and a lot of his power seems to be drawn up through the ground. We talked about boxers, you know, Mike Tyson, very low to the ground and big open chest and big shoulder swings and very sort of brutal but graceful at the same time, and then as we shot stuff things became easier".

Despite his small size, Puss is a capable fighter even when outnumbered against much larger opponents. He is skilled with a sword and often practically dances around his enemies who can't keep up with him. One of his defenses is using his cute nature by staring up at his foes with an innocent, wide-eyed expression, which softens his foes' hearts. In Shrek 2, he does this twice; while in the woods; trying to persuade Shrek to let him travel with him and Donkey, and in the castle of Far Far Away, while fighting the castle guards. He tried this technique twice in Shrek the Third, both times unsuccessful. The first time, he stands outside the window of Shrek's room but Shrek simply closed the curtains on him. Later, he tried this in Donkey's body, but the effect was spoiled by Donkey's crooked teeth which disgusted his enemies who promptly tried to kill him, to which Artie saved his life. In Shrek Forever After he does this to Donkey, while he is trying to clean himself. Due to the fact that he is an obese cat now, he couldn't reach the spot he was trying to clean and saw that Donkey was doing what he usually did. He asks Donkey if he could "borrow his tongue" and at first, Donkey says no, but once he does his technique, Donkey agrees, but isn't able to because it is interrupted. Puss is also seen as having a rougish charm and womanizing attributes towards female cats; he immediately begins to flirt with other cats after claiming one is the 'love of his life', even saying to one "I don't know you, but I'd like to."

In the films, he survives the events that occur in Jurassic Park, and is seen again in the second film. In the second film, his position as CEO has been taken away and he devotes what resources he has left keeping the dinosaurs isolated from the rest of the world. His corporate successor, however, arranges a large expedition to capture as many dinosaurs as possible and rebuild Jurassic Park. In an attempt to stop him, Hammond sends a small party, including a reluctant Ian Malcolm, to intercept them. Ultimately, the expedition is halted and Hammond advocates his idea to leave the dinosaurs in peace.
